If there’s one thing that you absolutely have to remember the next time you’re visiting the historic City of Bruges, it’s to stop by EST wine bar (Wijnbar Est) to enjoy not only an impressive selection of wines from around the world, but also to bask in the laid back ambience, rustic setting, great jazz & blues, and the warm welcome you’ll receive from the staff.
Though we often plan ahead with regard to booking hotels and vacation tours, we frequently ignore the planning of one of the most enjoyable features of our vacation, that of fulfilling our appetite for both food and drink!
In the centre of Brugge, you’ll pretty much find a handful of restaurants on every street, so you’ll imagine you’re spoilt for choice. In our experience, however, quantity doesn’t necessarily lead to quality! If you wish to avoid the tourist traps of the city, then venture over to Wijnbar EST where you’ll find locals rubbing shoulders with residents and visitors from Germany, France, the UK and even the USA.
Cosy, intimate and romantic Bruges
Historically, this typical looking Bruges house was home to the Guild House of Cereal Carriers – from this location, cereal was delivered, dispersed and transported throughout the City – take a look at the three gable-stones dating from 1637, one of which shows a man carrying a sack of cereal! It’s a beautiful building both inside and out, and once you enter this cosy Brugge wine bar you’ll be drawn to the upper level by the fabulous candelabra that hangs in the middle of the ceiling, as well as the beautiful décor. The place is just dripping with ambience and ideal for both an intimate tete-a-tete with your amour or a fun night with friends and family.
Wijnbar Est wine bar owners, Noella & Marnix couldn’t be more welcoming. Always with a smile and a kind word, Noella will be happy to share her expertise on the new and old world wine selection available from the Wijnbar Est wine cellar. An accomplished musician and lover of jazz & blues, Marnix spends many a Sunday evening serenading the regulars as well as visiting clientele with hours of wonderful music whilst accompanied by some really talented musicians and friends from the local area.
If you are looking for something good to eat for dinner in Bruges, or maybe just a snack, Noella and Marnix also have you covered with their great selection of tapas, salads, pasta dishes and a speciality, the raclette – something not to be missed whilst in Bruges!
After a busy day of sight-seeing; if you’ve just finished a business meeting, or for an after-dinner tipple, Est wine bar is definitely the place to go. Wind down your day in this unique location and enjoy a completely relaxed evening chatting with friends old and new and tasting some really delicious vintages, as well as a selection of local beers!
