This is our third experience we’ve had of the Sunday Roast served at Tyrrells Ford, an old manor house dating back to the 18th Century and located in Avon. The first time was fairly enjoyable, the second time not so much so, but somehow we dared to venture to this lovely location in the west of the New Forest to try our third time lucky sampling, hopefully recreating the magic of our first visit, and then some! Sadly this was not the case. Disappointing would be a word that first springs to mind. With roast potatoes that tasted like they’d been cooked in oil past its prime – and adding insult to injury not crunchiness (the way we like them) and all we could taste was the stale old oil! The beef was tough, chewy and fatty, in fact, the only good thing about the meal was the vegetables that were cooked nicely still with a slight crunch to them.
Eating at Tyrrells Ford is pretty much hit-and-miss when it comes to their Sunday Roast, so take your chances! Olivia will be writing a full review of this country Inn in the weeks to come. So come back to take a look to hear more details.
